MOM APPROVED!

A child’s first dental visit                                                should be age 1 or within six                                        months of the eruption of the                                        first tooth, as recommended                                          by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).   Dental caries is the single most common chronic disease in childhood.  Five times more common than asthma and seasonal allergies. Developing a caries risk assessment level for your child, allows us to provide you with the appropriate strategies needed for good oral health.

The age-one dental visit is equivalent to a “well visit” with your pediatrician.  Our focus is on parental education and caries prevention through anticipatory guidance.  This allows us to discuss your child’s overall oral and dental development.  Our team will discuss proper home care and adequate toothpaste/fluoride use.  We will demonstrate age appropriate brushing techniques and review appropriate diet and feeding intervals.

These are just a few of the items used to develop a comprehensive preventative dental strategy.

Developing a “Dental Home” for your child early in life will help promote and maintain good oral health. Also, laying the foundation for a more relaxed and comfortable attitude towards dental care.
